舞出真我，需要的不但是勇氣，還有苗條身材亮眼舞技。貴州深山苗寨即將舉行民族舞蹈比賽，愛編花帶的女孩小片卻因身形肥胖而被拒諸門外。為了證明 nothing is impossible 的道理，小片奮力瘦身，甚至因終日減肥和編花帶而逃學，為的就是要以全新姿態現身比賽。導演胡庶深入貴州榕江山區拍攝，以自然清新，融合紀錄片及劇情片的影像風格，盡現苗寨的純樸民情。舞裙娃娃呼啦啦，只要有夢想，不論肥瘦，一樣可以在台上流露自信光采。

I WANT TO DANCE is set in the remote mountains of Guizhou , a province in southern China populated by the Miao tribe. 14 year-old Pian wants to enter a local traditional dance competition, but is told by the village elders that the judges prefer ‘very skinny girls'. Keen to represent her village and show off her hand-embroidered headband in the dance-off, the plump girl tries to lose weight before the competition in various, often comic, ways. Director Hu Shu, a Guizhou native, whose experiences in documentary filmmaking infuses this charming tale of colourful costumes and unassuming determination.
